ACCELERIS LAUNCHES MEDIA TRAINING PROGRAMME

March 08

New service brings together senior BBC and Times journalists

acceleris marketing communications has launched a new media training service designed to help senior business executives become effective performers when dealing with the demands of newspaper, television and radio interviews.

The courses, presented by highly experienced national and international journalists from The Times, BBC Television News and BBC Radio News give delegates a unique insight into how the different elements of the media work.

acceleris Media Training provides delegates with practical tips and techniques so that they are able to get their message across effectively even when in the unfamiliar surroundings of a television or radio studio and under persistent probing of a professional inquisitor.

Courses are headed by Peter Davenport, Managing Director of acceleris, who was a national and international journalist for more than 20 years, first on the Daily Mail and then The Times, covering major stories at home and abroad. He was based in Ireland during the worst of the terrorist campaigns, traveled with Pope John Paul on his historic pilgrimage across Ireland and worked on assignment in India, the Middle East, the Falklands, the USA and most major European countries.

acceleris has combined with senior BBC journalists John Thorne and Richard Wells along with award-winning cameraman Keith Massey to create these high quality courses.

John Thorne (Centre) was formerly the BBC’s correspondent in Australia and South Africa as well as spending two periods as Ireland correspondent during its busiest news periods. More recently he has worked in the North of England and is a familiar face and voice on the BBC’s television and radio airwaves.

Richard Wells (left) had prolonged reporting assignments for the BBC in India, Saudi Arabia and Turkey as well as being North of England correspondent for 20 years. Now a freelance journalist, Richard still reports regularly for BBC News and is a frequent contributor to BBC News 24 and the Radio 4 programmes, You and Yours and The Message.

Keith Massey (right) has worked as a cameraman for the BBC, both in a staff and freelance capacity for 40 years. Based in the North of England, Keith is the recipient of five awards from the Royal Television Society, one BAFTA for his work on the BBC/Open University acclaimed Coast Interactive series and an award from the Guild of Television Cameramen for camera excellence. Keith has considerable experience in news, documentary and drama and is the director of photography for the ITV series. Emmerdale.

Peter Davenport (below) says:
“ The ability to perform effectively in front of the media is an increasingly essential skill for leaders in the public and private sector. How they react in front of the camera or come across over the airwaves can impact not just on their own reputation but that of their businesses as well.”

Courses are bespoke and designed to reflect the areas in which delegates work. They can be held in professional studios, at the offices of acceleris or at suitable client premises.
