acceleris angels support small businesses in call for fuel subsidy

When client Vansunited, the UK’s leading commercial van buying website, wanted a campaign to raise the awareness of the impact of the fuel rises on small businesses it asked acceleris marketing communications for help.

Small businesses are responsible for 21% of the UK’s business turnover making the van driver worth £35 billion to the UK economy. Vansunited launched the campaign following research that highlighted the increases would mean a £108m cost increase to UK van drivers alone.

As part of their plan acceleris developed the Diesel Cap Dolls who would tour the UK giving free diesel to van drivers. To communicate the idea to the client ‘acceleris Angels’ Jen, Charlotte and Gina, all account executives at the agency stepped up to the mark and became the Diesel Cap Dolls for an internal shoot. The image depicted was of the three girls stood reflecting the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ pose but replacing the guns with diesel pumps!

The client was so impressed with the image and concept that he asked if the shot could be used for press purposes and of course acceleris and its Angels agreed.

The picture was a strong focus to a relevant story. It raised Vansunited’s brand awareness in trade, regional and national press. The story, and use of image, is ongoing due to the continued hike in fuel prices by the Government. To register your support please visit www.vansunited.co.uk
