acceleris organises for client Theakstons to support charity dog walk with TV personality Linda Barker
When interior designer and television personality Linda Barker took her dachshund Tiger Lilly for an extra long ‘walkies’ across the Three Peaks of Yorkshire in the name of charity - with added support from local brewer T&R Theakston - she raised £4,500.
The walk was in aid of the Yorkshire committee of Sue Ryder Care. As well as making a financial donation, Theakstons helped the walkers to finish the task at hand by setting up ‘The Ramblers Rest’, arguably ‘Britain’s Biggest Beer Garden’ to provide them all with a much needed drink.
The mobile bar was set up between Whernside and Ingleborough peaks to quench the thirst of the 18 walkers and was manned by Theakstons very own cooper, Jonathan Manby.
The team, which included two dogs (Tiger Lilly and a Dalmatian called Polly), set off from Horton at Ribblesdale and covered the 24.5 miles across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, taking in over 5,000 feet of climbing. The walk was completed in the planned 12 hours.
Linda Barker said; “We are absolutely delighted with the support that Theakstons showed us in our bid to raise as much money as we could for Sue Ryder Care. Like the Three Peaks themselves, Theakstons is an iconic piece of Yorkshire and it was wonderful to have the help of the brewery. Knowing that a glass or two was waiting for us all half way round certainly kept us going!”
