acceleris marketing communications secure uk brief to drive £50 million broadband initiative in north yorkshire

acceleris has been appointed to oversee PR & Marketing Communications for NYnet, the organisation tasked with providing an ultra-high speed broadband internet network to North Yorkshire. NYnet represents one of Europe’s largest public sector led, open access, broadband infrastructure initiatives.

The agency won a three-way competitive pitch that was short listed from a tender list of nine. acceleris has started work on a media-focused campaign to raise awareness of the brand to both public sector and independent ISP’s who wish to tap into the extensive business opportunity on offer in the North Yorkshire region.

NYnet is a unique commercial enterprise which was set up by North Yorkshire County Council to ensure the regions businesses and public bodies are ‘not left behind the rest of the world’ in the next phase of the information society revolution. The offering is able to provide end-to-end VPN architecture to the public sector and a carrier class backhaul network for ISPs, both at highly competitive prices.

The public /private company commences activity with the £42 Million, 10 year, NYCC contract to develop its Wide Area Network and received over £5million of start-up funding from both regional development company Yorkshire Forward (£4 Million) and the European Union (£1.1 Million). Yorkshire Forward’s involvement in the project and the grant incentives on offer to those interested in the service will also be incorporated into the communications plan.

The campaign includes a series of events and activity that are intended to raise both regional and national awareness of the brand.

Burton said: “With their mix of public sector and corporate experience, acceleris was very well placed to help us enhance brand awareness around the NYnet offering. The team had an in-depth understanding of our requirements and developed a simple, yet direct, media strategy with a bag full of creative ideas.”
