Acceleris was tasked with supporting the launch of Martek Marine’s affordable telemedicine offering, iVital™, using strategic communications to gain a media presence within key trade titles and promote the product to new and existing customers.

Acceleris forged new relationships with trade media and secured content on a regular basis in key titles. This helped Martek become a recognisable, consistent and reputable face within the industry.
After the initial promotion of iVital™, Acceleris acted to change attitudes within the sector to make decision-makers feel that Martek’s offering was needed rather than simply an option.
By creating a valuable partnership between Martek and maritime professionals’ trade union, Nautilus International, Acceleris emphasised the importance of safety from the perspective of seafarers themselves. Through this partnership, Acceleris launched a survey to gain an insight into seafarers’ thoughts on current healthcare provisions at sea. Off the back of strong results, the opportunity was created to raise awareness of the wider issues of health and medical care at sea and to put pressure on industry executives and MPs to improve healthcare provisions.
Having worked with maritime employees, Acceleris moved to educate shipowners and persuade them to invest in technology and services to improve on board crew welfare. Through blogs and features on telemedicine and industry events such as European Shipping Week, Martek was positioned as a thought leader. This not only provided its expertise, but also conveyed the benefits of its products to those who ultimately would be investing in them.
The project resulted in international coverage to over 600,000 unique visitors and included pieces in key trade titles such as the Maritime Reporter, Safety4Sea, Ocean News & Technology and The Marine Professional. The coverage spanned titles with a readership of industry decision-makers, business owners and seafaring employees, showcasing the benefits of iVital™ across the board.
