Acceleris’ maritime division celebrates awards recognition

Acceleris’ maritime division has been shortlisted in three categories in the ‘PR Moment Awards 2015’, held in association with the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) to recognise ‘outstanding campaigns and exceptional talent.’

Acceleris is shortlisted for two awards for its campaign to champion sustainable fishing on behalf of the National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations (NFFO), the trade body representing the interests of the UK fishing industry.

Appointed by the federation in February 2013, the agency has delivered an intensive media campaign aimed at challenging misconceptions about this often misunderstood industry earning it a nomination in the Media Relations Campaign of the Year’ category. Acceleris also devised a number of initiatives to proactively raise awareness of the extensive efforts of those within the sector to work more sustainably including one which involved identifying the UK’s most sustainable fish. This campaign, dubbed ‘Let Them Eat Hake’ is nominated for ‘Integrated Campaign of the Year’.

Acceleris Managing Director, Louise Vaughan, said: “Our maritime division has gone from strength to strength in the past year as we have been invited to represent organisations across the industry from trade bodies to charities. These latest awards are testament to the hard work and expertise our team has developed in this sector and our commitment to building on the achievements of 2014”.

The agency completes its handful of nominations in the ‘Not for Profit Campaign’ category for its work with national maritime charity, the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society, in raising awareness of the charity’s anniversary celebrating its work supporting seafarers in need and their dependents for 175 years.

The PR Moment awards are judged by a high-level and independent panel. The ceremony is due to take place in Manchester on 11 March 2015. For more information on Acceleris’ work with the maritime sector, click here.
