Wolverhampton Homes - website development, design and copywriting
What Acceleris was asked to do
Wolverhampton Homes is an arm's length management organisation providing housing services for 23,500 tenanted and leasehold properties on behalf of Wolverhampton City Council. In 2010, Wolverhampton Homes commissioned Acceleris to design and build a new website for its residents, incorporating the award-winning tenant engagement platform @home.
What we did
Before project kick-off, Acceleris provided a full production schedule and sitemap, and ensured all major project milestones and timings were signed off before commencement of work.
Our creative team of web developers delivered a fresh, colourful and user-friendly design, complete with accessibility features, essential housing facilities such as reporting a repair, making an enquiry and paying rent online, and the @home portal, enabling tenants to have two-way engagement both with the organisation and each other.
Regular client contact was vital, from explaining the process, to weekly progress updates and guidance as to what was needed from Wolverhampton Homes.
While most of the content was provided by the communications team at Wolverhampton Homes, Acceleris' experienced copywriters provided editing and drafting support and ensured all content was keyword-optimised for SEO.
While the site was built to meet all compliance and accessibility standards, Acceleris also involved tenants in both the site's design and usability, to ensure it met their expectations.
Acceleris has also provided after-care advice, proving a web project is not just about handing over a new website; it's about helping clients use it to its best potential.
Since taking on the new website, @home portal and integrating with the client's existing social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, visitors to the Wolverhampton Homes website have increased by 33 per cent, with the majority of users finding what they require within three clicks.
It played a significant part in Wolverhampton Homes' new website has more than 37,000 visits per month on average and reached over 6,000 unique users in January 2011 alone.
Website hits also increased dramatically, with a rise of 86 per cent in the first 3 months after launch, compared with the original site's performance.
Quote Dawn Aston- Adams, Customer Services and Website Manager, said: "The new website has met expectations and been favourably received by both staff and customers. The Acceleris team had a good knowledge of their own sector with specialists available for technical, communications, design and project management. I would happily work with Acceleris again and have no hesitation in recommending them for similar projects."
